1. About us
VITA Performance Testing is a mobile lactate threshold testing service operated by India Fraser (sole trader), trading as VITA Performance Testing, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. These terms apply to any booking made through our website, by email, or in person.
2. Our services
We provide mobile lactate threshold testing for endurance athletes and teams, delivered at a location of your choosing (your own training venue, a partner facility, or a location we agree together), along with a results report and, where selected, a follow-up training plan. Current services and pricing are listed on our website and may be updated from time to time.
3. Bookings, deposits and payment
- A £20 deposit per athlete is required to confirm a booking. The remaining balance is due on or before the day of testing.
- Your deposit is credited towards your final balance — it is not an additional charge on top of the listed price.
- For team/group bookings, there is a 20% combined payment deposit to secure booking. The final amount should be paid on the day of or before testing by the club/team coordinator on the group's behalf.
- Prices are in GBP and include VAT only if/where we are VAT registered (see current pricing for confirmation).
- Team/group bookings may be subject to a separate agreement on numbers, timing, and payment terms.
- Groups of 5+ participants £79/person, 10+ participants £69/person.
4. Cancellations and rescheduling
- Rescheduling: if you need to change your date, your £20 deposit carries over to the new date at no extra charge, provided you let us know at least 3 days (72 hours) before your original appointment. Rescheduling with less notice than this may result in the loss of your deposit, at our discretion.
- Cancelling: cancellations with less than 3 days (72 hours) notice will result in the loss of your deposit. Cancellations with more notice than this will be refunded in full.
- Team/group bookings: given the additional travel and coordination involved, we ask for at least 7 days notice to reschedule or cancel a group booking without losing deposits. This applies to the group as a whole — if only some athletes need to drop out, this does not affect the rest of the group's booking, and applies per athlete only for those individuals.
- We reserve the right to reschedule a session at short notice due to circumstances outside our control (e.g. illness, extreme weather, equipment failure), in which case we will offer the next available slot at no extra cost, and your deposit remains valid regardless of notice given.
5. Eligibility and health screening
- Our services are intended for adults (18+). Under-18s may be tested only with the written consent of a parent or guardian.
- All clients must complete a health screening and consent form before testing. See our separate Waiver and Informed Consent document.
- We reserve the right to decline or postpone a test if the health screening, or your condition on the day, indicates it would be unsafe to proceed. This is for your safety, not a judgement on you, and we'll always explain why.
6. Your responsibilities
To get an accurate and safe test, you agree to:
- Answer health screening questions honestly and completely
- Follow any pre-test guidance we give you (e.g. around food, hydration, or recent training)
- Wear appropriate clothing/footwear and bring any equipment specified for your test (e.g. your own bike, if applicable)
- Tell us immediately if you feel unwell, dizzy, or want to stop at any point during the test — you are free to stop at any time
7. Nature of the test and inherent risks
Lactate threshold testing involves progressively strenuous exercise and repeated small blood samples (typically via finger-prick). As with any near-maximal exercise test, there are inherent risks, which may include (but are not limited to): light-headedness, fatigue, muscle soreness, minor bruising or bleeding at the sample site, and, rarely, more serious cardiovascular events during strenuous exertion. Our health screening process is designed to identify people for whom these risks are elevated, but it cannot eliminate risk entirely. By booking a test, you confirm you understand and accept these inherent risks. Full details are set out in our Waiver and Informed Consent form, which you will be asked to read and sign before testing.
8. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under UK law.
Subject to the above, our liability for any other loss arising from our services is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant service. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (for example, loss of earnings or missed events), except where required by law.
9. Results and training plans
Test results and any follow-up training plan are provided for your personal use and general guidance. They are not medical advice or a diagnosis, and should not replace consultation with a doctor or qualified healthcare professional, particularly if you have or suspect a medical condition. Training plans should be adjusted based on how your body responds — if in doubt, stop and seek appropriate advice.
10. Data protection
Any personal and health information you provide is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
11. Intellectual property
Reports, training plans, and materials we provide are for your personal use. Please don't reproduce or redistribute them commercially without our permission.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
